GCCSG: The UAE’s Earning of the Right to Host the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 Reflects its Vision of Protecting Nature

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), underscored that the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) earning of the right to host the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 reflects its vision of protecting nature, its continued and exceptional efforts to safeguard the environment, work to combat climate change and achieve sustainability, in addition to its distinguished position regionally and internationally.
His Excellency the Secretary extended his warmest congratulations to His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the country’s government and people on winning the right to host the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, which is organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and will be held in the city of Abu Dhabi in 2025.
Moreover, His Excellency praised the great efforts of the UAE and its role in safeguarding nature, sustaining the environment, and confronting climate change through housing many conferences and events related to the environment, in addition to building effective relationships and partnerships with major international environmental organisations, to find the best solutions to overcome problems linked to the environment and climate change, achieve environmental sustainability, and preserve the natural resources.
His Excellency the Secretary underscored the relentless efforts exerted by the UAE in this field, highlighting the country’s keenness to harness all capabilities and abilities towards protecting the environment as evidenced by hosting the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28) which will take place next November, through which international participants will pursue to make decisions
to enhance coordination and cooperation between the countries of the world and achieve global aspirations to tackle climate change in a way that contributes to mitigating its variables.
