El Palace Barcelona Welcomes the 2025 Summer Season with Rooftop Celebrations, a Captivating New Art Exhibition, and Prestigious Culinary Accolades

Ahmed Bin Abdulqader

With the arrival of summer, El Palace Barcelona has once again transformed its celebrated Rooftop Garden into an enchanting seasonal retreat high above the city’s rooftops. Combining the relaxed spirit of the Mediterranean with panoramic views of Barcelona’s iconic skyline, the hotel’s rooftop promises a vibrant calendar of events, experiences and new flavours designed to capture the essence of a Barcelona summer.

Returning by popular demand, the city’s first rooftop open-air cinema has reopened at the very top of El Palace Barcelona. Set against the magical silhouette of Tibidabo and the ever-majestic Sagrada Família, the cinema invites guests to recline under the stars on loungers and sunbeds, complete with popcorn, a St. Germain cocktail and silent disco-style headphones offering a choice of Spanish or English audio. This season’s programme runs from 18 to 31 May with a new film each evening — from the romance of Notting Hill to the playful nostalgia of Shrek. A fresh summer schedule will be revealed in the coming weeks, promising more cinematic nights beneath the Barcelona sky.

The Rooftop Garden’s lively ambiance continues with a line-up of live music and entertainment throughout the week. Thursdays will once again fill the air with the unmistakable rhythm of live rumba performances from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., while DJ sets from OwBe and The Time Machine Studio provide a seamless soundtrack of funky grooves and summer beats on weekends. June will see an expanded programme with additional mid-week sessions to welcome the warmer nights.

This year, El Palace Barcelona introduces a truly unique experience that fuses the mystical with the gastronomic. On 4th July, the solarium terrace will host an astrology and biodynamic grapes tasting, curated in partnership with Celler Credo and Moonvista. Guests will savour three biodynamic grapes while uncovering how lunar cycles shape viticulture, before gazing at the constellations through telescopes trained on the Barcelona sky. Priced at €95 per person, it promises an evening where the earth meets the stars in perfect harmony.

A highlight of the summer social calendar, Sant Joan — the famed Nit del Foc or Night of Fire — will be celebrated with style on 23 June. El Palace Barcelona will mark this most magical of Catalan traditions with a rooftop dinner created by Chef Jesús Caballero, accompanied by live music and a dazzling firework display launched from the hotel’s own rooftop, all for €95 per guest.

To complement these experiences, the Rooftop Garden unveils a fresh new seasonal menu, offering Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as Normandy oysters with ponzu and chilli oil, roasted aubergine with burrata, hand-cut aged picanha tartare, and red prawn rice, alongside an innovative cocktail list featuring summer favourites like the Kaffir Mojito and the Mezcalita. A pop-up dining concept is also on the horizon, set to transport guests to an evocative destination through a bespoke menu and themed setting, details of which will be announced soon.

Art and culture continue to thrive within the walls of El Palace Barcelona, with the hotel’s majestic Great Hall currently home to a striking exhibition by acclaimed local artist Alba Falqués. Open to the public and free of charge until 16th September, the collection brings together large-scale works from Océanos Perdidos and selected pieces from Distopias del Camino and Green Eklipse. This visceral, emotive body of work offers an intimate reflection on freedom, movement, and texture, with each piece becoming a living extension of its setting — a dialogue between artist, artwork and the hotel’s enduring grandeur.

El Palace Barcelona’s passion for hospitality, culture and culinary distinction has also been recognised on the international stage. The hotel’s gastronomic jewel, Amar Barcelona, helmed by celebrated chef Rafa Zafra, was recently named the sixth best restaurant in Europe by Opinionated About Dining (OAD). Renowned for its refined Mediterranean cuisine, Amar Barcelona blends tradition and contemporary flair, offering a dining experience where premium seafood and dry-aged meats meet 1919 heritage in an atmosphere of timeless elegance.

This summer, whether to gaze at the stars, savour biodynamic grapes, immerse in contemporary art or dine among chandeliers and blue velvet, El Palace Barcelona continues to enchant — reaffirming its place as one of Europe’s most distinguished addresses for unforgettable experiences.
