GCC SG:We Welcome the Role of the State of Qatar and its Efforts in Calming the Situation and Establishing a Cease-fire between the Israeli and Palestinian Sides

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), praised the diplomatic efforts of the State of Qatar and its great role in reaching a cease-fire between the Israeli and Palestinian sides. His Excellency said that the Qatari diplomacy was able to deal with many international and regional issues, seeking to resolve them through peaceful means.

Additionally, HE the Secretary General appreciated the efforts and endeavours of the Arab Republic of Egypt in communicating with the parties and harnessing all efforts to contribute to establishing a truce and cease-fire.

Furthermore, His Excellency the Secretary General reiterated the position of the GCC countries, which calls for the need to speed up a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the principles of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, and on the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Al Quds as its capital.
