His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Mr Aidaroos Al Zubaidi, Deputy Head of the Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen and President of the Southern Transitional Council, met today, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Davos, Switzerland.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, focused on collaborative efforts to support a political solution in Yemen, aiming to restore stability, foster development, and ensure the prosperity of the Yemeni people.
The discussion covered several key topics, including the latest developments in Yemen. Particular emphasis was placed on the valuable efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve peace in Yemen, and the importance of supporting these endeavors.
During the meeting, His Excellency the GCC Secretary General reaffirmed the Council’s unwavering support for the Yemeni people, stressing the commitment to assisting Yemen in restoring security and stability, and embarking on a path of sustainable development.
This commitment includes ensuring the Yemeni people live with dignity, peace, and security. His Excellency the GCC Secretary General also highlighted the GCC’s support for the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council to enhance security and stability within the country.
Furthermore, he reiterated the GCC’s dedication to supporting all international and regional efforts, including those of the United Nations, to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the three key references: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
