HE the GCCSG: Saudi Arabia’s Hosting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Confirms its Excellence in this Field, in Accordance with the Programmes and Initiatives of its Vision 2030

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has affirmed that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) underscores its leading role in this field, aligning with the programmes and initiatives of its Vision 2030.

 

His Excellency’s statement came during his participation in the 19th edition of the IGF, an annual United Nations event held in Riyadh from December 15th to 19th, 2024, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre.

 

His Excellency highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of such forums reflects its commitment to exchanging expertise and knowledge regionally and internationally.  “This enhances the Kingdom’s position as a key destination for global events aimed at achieving sustainable development across various sectors.  Furthermore, this hosting demonstrates the Kingdom’s significant capabilities in the fields of communications, information technology, and digital government,” His Excellency explained.

 

He also noted that the forum aims to advance this field, address its challenges, and find appropriate solutions.  “The participation of numerous high-ranking officials and experts from around the world underscores the conference’s importance and value,” His Excellency pointed out.

 

In closing, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for its efforts in making this global event a success.
