HE GCCSG: Gulf-U.S. Relations are Historic & Strong, having Significantly Contributed to Bridging Viewpoints on Several Issues & Enhancing Joint Cooperation in Various Fields, Especially in Developing Economic & Trade Ties

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that Gulf-American relations are historic and strong, significantly contributing to aligning viewpoints on various issues and enhancing joint efforts across multiple fields, particularly in the development of economic and trade relations.

This statement was made during a roundtable discussion titled “A Perspective on Gulf-American Relations,” organised by the Arab American National Chamber of Commerce. The event was attended by experts interested in Gulf-American relations and senior officials from several global companies on Friday, October 25, 2024, in the U.S. capital. It was held on the sidelines of His Excellency the Secretary General’s participation in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

At the beginning of his remarks, His Excellency the Secretary General presented several statistics and economic figures that highlighted the prestigious global standing of the GCC member states, positioning them among the largest economic blocs. He also discussed the importance of the political and economic relationships between the GCC countries and the United States, exploring potential ways to enhance these relations to serve the mutual interests of both parties.

During the session, participants emphasised that Gulf-American relations are a key aspect of economic stability amid global economic transformations, underlining the necessity of establishing sustainable partnerships that support development and progress in the region.

In closing the session, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to Mr David Hamood, President of the Arab American National Chamber of Commerce, for organising the roundtable, which contributed to constructive discussions and the exchange of views on strengthening economic relations between the GCC and the United States.
