Under the supervision of the King Salman Relief Center, “Al-Balsam” concludes its medical campaign in Yemen, having successfully performed 43 neurosurgeries.

Ahmed Bin Abdulqader
Under the auspices of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), the voluntary neurosurgery program in the Republic of Yemen successfully conducted 43 surgeries between August 17 and 23, 2024. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the “Al-Balsam” Association for Training and Health Development, focused on the treatment of neurological cases.
The surgeries were carried out at Prince Mohamed bin Salman Hospital in Aden. The medical team from the Al-Balsam Association, comprising approximately 25 health professionals, including top neurological and spinal surgeons, nurses, and technicians, successfully performed 43 neurological operations. In addition to these procedures, the team examined 127 patients and provided essential health care, in collaboration with local doctors.
The voluntary medical program for neurosurgery in the Republic of Yemen comes as an extension of the various voluntary medical programs implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in a number of countries to provide treatment to individuals and families with limited income.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naami, consultant neurosurgeon and head of the “Al-Balsam” Association medical team in the Republic of Yemen, reported that the team completed 43 surgeries within just 5 days of arriving in Aden. The procedures included a significant number of complex cases, encompassing both brain and spinal operations.
Dr. Al-Naami noted that a strong sense of unity and collaboration was evident from the outset, both among the volunteer team and the local medical staff in Aden. He described this as one of the blessings of voluntary work, which, by the grace of Allah, nurtures such harmonious efforts. He expressed hope that this spirit of cooperation will lead to new opportunities for doing good, bringing joy, and spreading smiles to those in need.
Dr. Al-Naami expressed his gratitude to the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the Al-Balsam Association for Training and Health Development, the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), Prince Mohamed bin Salman Hospital in Aden, and all those who contributed to the success of the neurosurgery campaign.
Under the supervision of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the “Al-Balsam” Association for Training and Health Development launched a medical campaign in Yemen last May. This initiative focused on open-heart surgery and interventional catheterization at Prince Mohamed bin Salman Hospital in Aden. During the campaign, the medical team—comprising 24 doctors, nurses, and technicians—successfully performed 25 open-heart surgeries and 166 interventional catheterizations for adults, as well as 3 open-heart surgeries and 57 interventional catheterizations for children. All procedures were carried out with the assistance of local doctors in Yemen and were successful, thanks to Allah.
