HE GCCSG Discusses Joint Cooperation with the Members of the ACS Troika; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, the Secretary General of the ACS, and the Representative of Colombia

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with members of the Troika of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), His Excellency Mr Albert Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation of the Republic of Suriname (the current presidency country of ACS), His Excellency Mr Rudolfo Sabonge, Secretary General of the ACS, and His Excellency Mr William Bus Howard, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Suriname (the next presidency country of ACS), on the sidelines of HE Mr Albudaiwi’s participation in the Association’s meeting on Wednesday (May 8, 2024) in the capital of the Republic of Suriname, Paramaribo.

During the joint meeting, current and future aspects of joint cooperation between the GCC and the ACS were discussed, in light of the Joint Action Plan (2023-2027) that the two sides agreed upon in September 2023. The two sides also discussed several topics, including political, commercial, investment and tourism cooperation.

The two sides agreed to launch preliminary talks at the expert level between the General Secretariat of the GCC and the General Secretariat of the ACS during the next three months, to discuss several topics of common interest, including tourist dialogue, political consultation, climate change, building bridges of communication and cultural exchange. They also stressed the common desire to move forward to strengthen and develop relations during the coming period, and their aspiration for future projects that will benefit both sides and are based on common interests.
