HE the GCCSG Commends the Diplomatic Achievements of the UAE and Congratulates them on the Outstanding Role they Played during their Non-permanent Membership in the Security Council for the period 2022-2023
His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for the remarkable success of Emirati diplomacy in light of the conclusion of its non-permanent membership in the Security Council for the period 2022-2023.
Moreover, he praised their prominent diplomatic achievements during the past two years, which clearly reflect the effective and expected role and influence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the international stage, highlighting its pivotal position in promoting peace and international cooperation.
This came in a letter addressed by His Excellency to His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, on the occasion of the conclusion of its non-permanent membership in the Security Council for the period 2022-2023, on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
The letter praised the continuous and dedicated efforts of His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed in representing the UAE and striving to achieve its strategic goals in the best possible way in the Security Council. It also hailed the distinguished and wise diplomatic leadership in enhancing the UAE’s role for good and its positive stance in addressing regional and global issues, adding that it fully deserves all praise and appreciation for these efforts.
Furthermore, His Excellency affirmed in the letter that the UAE’s commitment during its membership period to issues such as enhancing the role of women and youth, climate security, international cooperation, and resolving regional and global crises, confirms its insightful and future-oriented vision as well as its adherence to actively contribute to achieving global security and stability.
His Excellency also recalled with great pride and appreciation the leading Emirati role in defending the Palestinian people and supporting them in Gaza, as well as its significant and valuable contribution during its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, in issuing Security Council Resolutions 2712 and 2720.
In conclusion of his letter, His Excellency the Secretary General wished His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed and the Emirati diplomatic team further success and achievements in enhancing the UAE’s position at both regional and international levels, under the wise leadership and insightful vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
