HE the GCCSG: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Hosting of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Council Stems From the Kingdom’s Keenness to Strengthen Interdependence and Integration Between the GCC Countries and Their Peoples

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain’s hosting of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Council stems from the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen interdependence and integration between the Cooperation Council countries and their peoples.

 

This came during HE the Secretary General’s participation in the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Council on Sunday (August 6, 2023) in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

At the beginning of his speech, His Excellency extended gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, for His Majesty’s generous support to the joint Gulf action, resulting in clear and evident efforts and impacts of the Kingdom in this Council’s blessed course.

 

Moreover, HE the Secretary General stated that the Kingdom hosted a number of headquarters and bureaus affiliated to the General Secretariat of GCC, including the headquarters of the Executive Bureau, which it has hosted since 1978, providing it with all facilities and services, which indicate the Kingdom’s commitment to the joint Gulf action, and the great facilitation and cooperation it dedicates to the success of these bureaus and headquarters.

 

HE the Secretary General mentioned that the GCC countries pay great attention to the issue of labour, including the establishment of this Bureau, stressing that they have taken several steps in order to align their laws, procedures and systems with the requirements stipulated in international obligations, especially those stipulated by the International Labour Organisation. His Excellency underlined that the Islamic religion, as well as the customs, traditions and values of the GCC peoples, stipulate respect, preservation of rights, goodness, and respect for humanity at all levels and in all forums.

 

His Excellency concluded his speech by wishing that the new headquarters of the Bureau would be a launch for more dedication, giving and sincerity in the joint Gulf action that serves the labour and social affairs, praying to Allah the Almighty to perpetuate the grace of security, safety and prosperity for the GCC states and their peoples, under the wise leadership of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the Cooperation Council states.
