HE GCCSG and the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Discuss Cooperation to Enhance Trade Exchange Amid Global Economic Challenges

His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held a virtual meeting with His Excellency Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

During the meeting, both sides explored available avenues for cooperation to bolster trade exchange in light of the challenges facing the global economy, aiming to serve mutual interests.

His Excellency the Indian Minister expressed his country’s readiness to provide support across various economic and trade sectors for the GCC states, contributing to the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between both sides.

From his side, His Excellency Mr albudaiwi applauded India’s initiative and commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chains. He also expressed appreciation for the contribution of Indian expertise within the GCC states, which reflects the deep-rooted nature of Gulf-Indian relations.

In this context, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi underscored that the GCC states—thanks to the distinguished policies they have adopted in supply chain management—have been able to successfully and efficiently navigate the impacts of the current crisis.

“These policies have ensured the continuous flow of goods and services, reinforcing the resilience of of the GCC states’ economies and their ability to address regional and international challenges,” His Excellency underlined. He further commended the high level of coordination and cooperation among member states in this field.
