Spectrum.Life partners with L&G to power new health and wellbeing platform ‘Spark’, now delivering GP and Nurse services to their 1.8m members

Spectrum.Life, a leading global provider of whole-of-health services, delivered through a best in class digitally enabled platform, has partnered with L&G to create a new single Health and Wellbeing platform, Spark.
Spark was designed to address one of the most persistent challenges in Insurance – multiple pathways, apps and access points to health and wellbeing services. This has been addressed with the Spark platform that hosts all of L&Gs health and wellbeing services associated to Group policies. Meaning, employees have a single site platform to access all essential services. The new platform gives L&G a game-changing way to offer comprehensive healthcare access to clients and their employees, while it enables employees to connect directly with GPs, ANPs, and physiotherapists via a single digital interface and with no delays and no silos.
This partnership marks a strategic step in rethinking how healthcare is delivered at work. Rather than navigating fragmented systems, employees can now receive swift clinical support, medical advice, and second medical opinions, all in one place. It is healthcare designed for the speed and complexity of modern working life.
Spark, a single sign-on app, is designed to help employers’ businesses grow by helping their people thrive. Accessible via phone, laptop or desktop, Spark brings together all L&G existing health and wellbeing services – plus some new ones – under one roof, extending them to entire workforces and their immediate families. It will make preventative health and wellbeing simple, personalised and inclusive. This is regardless of chosen Group Protection product or percentage of workforce covered.
Built on Spectrum.Life’s robust technology and clinical network, Spark is offering employees and their families 24/7 access to services that support every aspect of life: physical, mental, financial, family, and legal.
These services include:
24/7 in-the-moment mental health support
Access to counselling and therapy
24/7 access to a General Practitioner (GP) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
Online Physiotherapy (8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday)
Children’s and young people’s mental health assessments and support
Second Medical Opinion on a diagnosis or treatment, providing peace of mind
Support with long-term conditions like type 2 diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis, long covid, and rheumatoid arthritis
A rich source of wellbeing resources – nutrition planning, fitness tracking, self-guided meditation, wellbeing podcasts and digital gym
Adult and elder care – support understanding, finding and funding adult care services
Expert financial and legal information service through dedicated helplines
Enhanced: even more services and support added at no extra cost
The launch of Spark also adds two new services for employees and their immediate families: cancer awareness and nurse support; plus, two new pathways – heart health and menopause provided – added to long-term condition support.
Cancer awareness and nurse support: Helping plug critical gaps in care from prevention through to survivorship, Spark offers access to cancer risk assessments and digital programmes for cancer risk reduction and screening. Also, personalised practical, physical and emotional support from experienced cancer nurses available through chat and 121 virtual clinics. This service is provided by our existing cancer vocational rehabilitation programme partner Perci Health, the only provider backed by Macmillan Cancer Support. The addition of this new service comes against the backdrop of decreasing cancer screening attendance in the UK and increasing incidence of cancer in the working age population.
Support for heart health and menopause: These two new pathways have been added to the long-term condition support provided by CONNECTPlus from HCI. This app, which helps people self-manage their conditions, was co-designed with NHS clinicians and patients and is used in various NHS Foundation Trusts. Usage of the app also helps better inform GP and specialist consultations, paving the way for precise and personalised interventions. It also helps HR and Line Managers better understand chronic conditions and their impact on life and work, so they can better support employees. This includes making reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
James Walker, Head of Product & Proposition – Group Protection, L&G: “I’m excited to introduce Spark to the market. It’s an incredibly slick and comprehensive one-stop-shop that uses the latest user journey guidance technology to get people to the service they need, fast and effectively. Thanks to Spark, we can now extend all our amazing prevention and early intervention support – plus some valuable new ones – to entire workforces and their immediate families.
“This will bring positive benefits to everyone. For individuals, helping empower them to manage their own health and wellbeing. For employers, helping reduce absence and presenteeism while improving satisfaction. For government, helping support latest Get Britain Working goals. And for society, in terms of fair access to essential support – improving health outcomes and reducing pressure on public health services.”
Stephen Costello, CEO and Co-founder, at Spectrum.Life: “We are not just improving access to healthcare – we are rebuilding it for the way people live and work today. Partnering with L&G on the launch of Spark is very exciting for us. Through Spark we are transforming the way employees, where their employer has an L&G Group Protection policy, access mental health and primary care services and get instant access to trusted clinical support – from GPs, ANPs and physiotherapists to second medical opinions and mental health specialists – making high-quality care just a click away.
“Together, we integrate preventative healthcare directly into protection benefits, guided by our intelligent MatchTech booking engine to ensure people reach the right support faster. Our Virtual Primary Care Platform empowers employees to take control of their health while helping employers strengthen culture, improve retention, and future-proof their benefits. As a second-generation digital health provider, our focus is on combining clinical excellence, innovation, and smart technology to change – and ultimately – save lives. This partnership represents a bold leap toward a more connected, accessible future of workplace wellbeing”, Costello continued.
As employee expectations shift toward greater support and flexibility, and employers look for practical, cost-effective health solutions, Virtual Primary Care is emerging as a key part of the answer. Through this new collaboration, Spectrum.Life and Legal & General are responding to the changing landscape with a solution that is accessible, scalable, effective, and valued. This launch reflects a broader shift in how workplace health and wellbeing can be delivered, combining direct clinical access with tools that support prevention and long-term wellbeing.
