Riyadh Monopoly arrives this September

Ready to roll the dice and claim a spot on the board? The launch of Riyadh Monopoly was announced last night 26 June, with an exciting new edition of the world’s favourite board game, specially designed to celebrate Riyadh’s rich culture, iconic landmarks and dynamic spirit.
The Riyadh version of the fast-dealing property trading game was unveiled at a lavish ceremony at the state-of-the-art KAFD Conference Centre, located in the prestigious King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in the city.
Attended by Government, media, tourism, education and cultural representatives, guests heard how the new Riyadh Monopoly edition is more than just a board game.
“Riyadh Monopoly reflects our goal of making big, strategic projects accessible and engaging to all ages. We want the next generation to recognize the names and places shaping their future. What better way than through play?” said Mazroua Al-Mazroua, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer, at the King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC).
Mr. Monopoly, the eponymous character that has represented the game for decades, visited Riyadh before the launch ceremony to explore some of the city’s notable cultural and tourist destinations. He was also a very special guest at the stunning launch event, this evening.
The launch venue centrepiece was a giant MONOPOLY board, allowing guests to step onto a life-sized version of the thrilling game, to experience a storytelling platform that acts as both a tribute to the past, and a vision of the future, engaging families in the Kingdom’s evolving narrative.
For 90 years, MONOPOLY has brought families together, in fun competition. 275 million games have been sold worldwide; a Guinness World Record for the best-selling board game in history. Now, Riyadh will have its own edition, for young and old players to explore the city’s rich heritage and vibrant future.

With over half of Riyadh’s residents aged under 20, Riyadh Monopoly is crafted to unite generations in friendly rivalry, whether strategising over historic streets or modern skyscrapers, Sharif Hamad bin Majed Alowaishiq, Founder & Chairman of Saudi Youth Society adds.

The colourful board is themed around tourism, heritage, contemporary entertainment and leisure, and business, all showcasing Saudi’s progressive strategy of economic diversification and cultural evolution.

Given the popularity of MONOPOLY worldwide, it is anticipated this new edition will offer an opportunity to introduce Riyadh, and its most iconic locations, to a wider international audience.
The brand-new official version of the iconic board game will feature notable Riyadh destinations, and locals are already excited to see if their favourite city landmark has made the cut!
