“الغطاء النباتي” ينفذ مشروعًا لدراسة وتقييم المواقع المتدهورة شرق ووسط المملكة
أطلق المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر مشروعًا لدراسة وتقييم المواقع المتدهورة في المملكة وفق أفضل الطرق والتقنيات العالمية المعتمدة، وإعداد خطط لإعادة التأهيل لمناطق شرق ووسط المملكة الواقعة ضمن حدود منطقة الرياض والمنطقة الشرقية، وذلك في إطار خطة تشمل العديد من مناطق المملكة، تماشيًا مع مستهدفات مبادرة السعودية الخضراء ورؤية المملكة 2030.
ويهدف المشروع إلى تحديد مواقع الأراضي المتدهورة والمسببات المباشرة وغير المباشرة للتدهور بنطاق المناطق الإدارية المحددة، ووضع خطة مستقبلية لرصد ومراقبة وتقييم تدهور الأراضي، تتناسب مع الوضع المحلي والنطاق الوطني بأحدث التقنيات ووفق أفضل الممارسات العالمية، إضافة إلى وضع خطة مستقبلية لتأهيل مواقع الأراضي المتدهورة ومراقبة وتقييم برامج وخطط التأهيل على مختلف الفترات (قصيرة ومتوسطة وطويلة المدى) لاستصلاح الأراضي وفق أفضل الممارسات العالمية.
ومن المقرر أن يجرى المركز -خلال هذا المشروع- تقييمًا شاملًا باستخدام تقنيات الاستشعار عن بعد ونظم المعلومات الجغرافية لتحديد شدة التدهور، فضلًا عن تنفيذ التحاليل الميدانية المخبرية عن طريق أخذ عينات من التربة والنبات والمياه، وإجراء تقييم اقتصادي واجتماعي على المستوى المحلي لمناطق الدراسة. وبناءً عليه، تم تحديد الطرق والآليات التفصيلية لتنفيذ البرامج والخطط لتأهيل واستصلاح الأراضي المتدهورة، وإجراء دراسة لترتيب المواقع المُحدّدة التي تحتاج لاستصلاح بحسب الأولوية.
يذكر أن المركز يعمل على تنمية مواقع الغطاء النباتي وحمايتها والمحافظة عليها، وتأهيل المتدهور منها، واستعادة التنوع الأحيائي في البيئات الطبيعية، إضافة إلى دوره في الإشراف على أراضي المراعي، والغابات والمتنزهات الوطنية واستثمارها، فضلاً عن الكشف عن التعديات على الغطاء النباتي، ومكافحة الاحتطاب حول المملكة، والمحافظة على الموارد الطبيعية والتنوع الأحيائي؛ للوصول إلى رؤية المركز في إيجاد غطاء نباتي مزدهر ومتنوع يعزز الاستدامة البيئية، ويسهم في جودة الحياة.
NCVC Launches Project to Assess Degraded Locations in Eastern and Central Saudi Arabia
The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has launched a project to study and assess degraded sites across Saudi Arabia using internationally recognized methods and advanced technologies. The project aims to develop rehabilitation plans for areas in the Eastern and Central regions, specifically within Riyadh and the Eastern Province. This initiative is part of a broader national strategy aligned with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030.
The project focuses on identifying degraded areas, analyzing the causes of deterioration, and implementing future plans for monitoring and restoring these lands using cutting-edge technologies and best practices. The initiative includes short-, medium-, and long-term strategies to rehabilitate affected areas and ensure the effectiveness of restoration efforts over time.
As part of the project, the NCVC will conduct a comprehensive assessment using remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) to measure the extent of degradation. Fieldwork will include soil, plant, and water sampling, along with economic and social impact studies in the targeted areas. Based on the findings, the center will prioritize sites for rehabilitation and develop detailed restoration plans.
The NCVC continues its mission to protect and enhance vegetation cover across the Kingdom, focusing on biodiversity restoration and sustainable resource management. The center manages rangelands, forests, and national parks, addresses illegal logging, and promotes the sustainable use of natural resources. These efforts align with the NCVC’s vision to foster thriving vegetation cover that supports environmental sustainability and improves quality of life.
