His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed the Council member states’ continued valuable and effective efforts to support the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people in establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
This came during His Excellency’s reception of His Excellency Mr Mazen Mohammed Rateb Ghneim, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary General congratulated His Excellency the Ambassador on his appointment as Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wishing him success in his duties.
During the meeting, several files were reviewed, most notably the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the ongoing and serious violations by the Israeli occupation forces against the brotherly Palestinian people.
His Excellency the Secretary General stressed what was stated in the final statement issued by the GCC Supreme Council in its 45th session (December 2024) on the centrality of the Palestinian cause, ending the Israeli occupation, and supporting the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over all occupied Palestinian territories.
He called on all countries to complete their recognition procedures for the State of Palestine and to take urgent collective action to achieve a permanent solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions. Moreover, he underscored the need to redouble the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict in a way that fulfills all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people
