Sony Middle East and Africa Commissions 391.2 kWp Solar Power Project at Headquarters in Jebel Ali Free Zone Dubai, UAE

The initiative supports Sony’s Road to Zero ambition, reinforcing its long-standing presence in the UAE
DUBAI, UAE – [11th May, 2026] – Sony Middle East and Africa (Sony MEA) has successfully completed its Solar Power Energy Project with a project capacity of 391.2 kWp, at its regional headquarters located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), Dubai, marking a significant step in advancing its sustainability agenda and reinforcing its long-standing presence in the United Arab Emirates.
The solar installation is expected to offset approximately 40% of the facility’s total energy consumption, contributing to an estimated reduction of 235 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Over its projected 25-year lifecycle, the initiative will support Sony’s broader environmental goals and contribute to ongoing efforts toward a low-carbon future.
The project aligns with Sony’s global environmental plan, Road to Zero, which aims to achieve a zero environmental footprint by 2050, as well as its medium-term Green Management 2030 targets. It also supports the UAE’s national sustainability agenda and ongoing solar energy initiatives.
“As Sony Middle East and Africa continues to build on its long-standing presence in the UAE, this project represents a meaningful milestone in advancing our sustainability agenda. By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are reducing our environmental impact while reinforcing our commitment to the region’s long-term growth and development. This reflects our focus on creating value for society through responsible and sustainable business practices.” said Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director, Sony Middle East and Africa.
“Congratulations to Sony Middle East and Africa on this important milestone. Sony MEA has been based in Jafza for more than 30 years and was among the first multinational companies to establish operations in the free zone. The commissioning of the solar project highlights the company’s continued commitment to the UAE as a strategic hub for its regional operations and growth across the Middle East and Africa.
