GCCSG: The Gulf Youth Day Comes in its Second Edition In Line with the Directives and Aspirations of Their Majesties and Highnesses the Leaders of the GCC Countries and Embodies Their Interest in the Youth of the Gulf

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stressed that the Gulf Youth Day, in its second edition, came to follow the directives and aspirations of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC member states, adding that it embodies their interest in the youth of the GCC.

Moreover, His Excellency pointed out that this day also reflects the interest and care extended by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC to the youth in order to hone their talents and develop their capabilities, stating that the Their Majesties and Highnesses’ meetings always underscore the significance of investing in this important segment of the society owing to the fact that they are the national human wealth of the GCC countries.

Furthermore, His Excellency added that Their Majesties and Highnesses’ meetings also underline the importance of benefiting from the GCC youth’s creativity and creating appropriate opportunities for them to allow them to achieve their aspirations and accomplish the ambitions of the GCC countries for sustainable development as this is in line with Their Majesties and Highnesses’ belief that the young people in the GCC countries represent the largest percentage of its fabric and composition.

His Excellency’s remarks came in celebration of the 2nd Gulf Youth Day, which is annually marked on June 6, to highlight the efforts exerted for this segment.

His Excellency the Secretary General said: “This day comes to highlight the efforts of all relevant government and private agencies in the GCC states, especially the Ministries of Youth and Sports, towards providing care to the youth, refining their talents and developing their abilities, empowering them to overcome all obstacles and harnessing all capabilities to serve thie category, promote awareness of the concept of empowering young people, as well as highlighting initiatives, incentives, modern trends, government support programmes for medium and small enterprises, education and training, and highlighting volunteer work and its importance to young people by organising activities and initiatives to support them, focusing on their

issues, taking advantage of their positive energies, within the framework of effective and continuous community empowerment, as well as understanding the capabilities available to them as partners in society, and striving to find the necessary and available solutions to provide support for them, and identify those who are capable of leading and participate effectively.”

In a related context, His Excellency recalled, “Our role is not only to motivate the youth and help them to overcome obstacles, but also to celebrate their successes, as commemorating their achievements and experiences is one of the greatest incentives that push them towards accomplishing more successes. Any success that is achieved in any of the countries of our blessed region is considered an accomplishment for all countries of the Council, because we are operating under one umbrella, and we share the same vision and future,”

On this occasion, His Excellency extended his sincere gratitude to Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC States, for their keenness to implement the directives issued by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC States, and for striving to overcome all obstacles and harness all capabilities to serve the youth category, expressing his sincere thanks for the genuine endeavours made by officials in the ministries of youth and sports in the GCC countries and their constant cooperation in serving young people and elevating partnership, coordination and integration towards achieving the desired goals, and preparing and carrying out a joint GCC strategy and programmes for youth in the Gulf
