Strong Participation in the Saudi Amateur Championship at Dirab Golf Club

The Saudi Amateur Championship is set to kick off next Tuesday at Dirab Golf Club, running from 2 to 5 December. The event is organized by the Saudi Golf Federation and will feature an elite field of amateur golfers from Saudi Arabia, the Arab region, and several internationally ranked players.

The championship is considered one of the most important milestones in talent development within the Kingdom. It aligns with the efforts of Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation to build a comprehensive pathway aimed at identifying, nurturing, and developing Saudi and Arab golfers, enabling their transition from amateur to professional levels—supporting the vision of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 in empowering youth and advancing modern sports.

This year’s edition will include strong competition across three key categories:

  • Men’s Category (Men WAGR) – 54 holes, Stroke Play.
  • Women’s Category (Women WAGR) – 54 holes, Stroke Play.
  • Junior Mixed Category (WAGR Junior Mixed) – for boys and girls, following the World Amateur Golf Ranking criteria.

The championship is also one of the official stops on the Arab Golf Series, held under the supervision of the Arab Golf Federation. Players participating in the series will earn Arab Ranking Points, adding further significance to the event and enhancing the competitive landscape for golfers across the region.

The winner of the Saudi Amateur Championship will also secure a valuable opportunity to qualify for the upcoming Saudi Open Championship for Professionals, presented by the Public Investment Fund, scheduled at Dirab Golf Club from 10 to 13 December. This connection elevates the importance of the amateur event and motivates players to deliver their best in pursuit of a spot in the professional field.

The official practice round will take place on 2 December, followed by the championship rounds from 3 to 5 December, with strong attendance expected from golf fans and followers of the sport.

This championship builds on the Kingdom’s growing role in shaping the regional and international golf landscape by developing world-class infrastructure, empowering young talent, and hosting events that contribute to the growth and wider reach of the sport.

The event aims to spotlight a new generation of players capable of representing Saudi Arabia and the region in major international tournaments, serving as an inspiring model for young talents within the ongoing “Champion-Making Journey” led by the Saudi Golf Federation and Golf Saudi.
