GCC Secretary General Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement Reached in Jeddah Between Representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces

His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the ceasefire agreement that was reached in the city of Jeddah between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

HE the Secretary General praised the relentless diplomatic efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, which culminated in bringing together the views of the warring parties in Sudan, in order to establish a ceasefire to pave the way for opportunities for peace in Sudan.

Furthermore, His Excellency recalled what was stated in the resolutions of the 32nd Arab Summit with respect to the Republic of Sudan, which stipulated the affirmation that the Sudanese talks in Jeddah are a step that can be built upon to end the crisis, and the demand for the prevalence of truce and dialogue.

HE the Secretary General reiterated the support of the GCC countries for all diplomatic efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enable Sudan to solve problems through dialogue and sparing the brotherly Sudanese people the horrors of wars and conflicts, wishing that Sudan would enjoy lasting peace so that it can preserve state institutions and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development for the brotherly Sudanese people.
