HE GCCSG Meets with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan & Extends Official Invitation to him for the 2nd Joint Ministerial Meeting of Strategic Dialogue with Japan in September 2025, as Part of Enhancing Srategic Partnership between the Two Sides

His Excellency Mr Iwaya Takeshi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, received His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), today, Monday, July 7, 2025, in the capital, Tokyo, during his official visit to Japan.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary General extended an official invitation to His Excellency the Japanese Foreign Minister to attend the second joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue with Japan which will take place on September 1, 2025, as part of enhancing the strategic partnership between the two sides.
During the meeting, several topics were discussed, primarily focusing on elevating cooperation between the two sides in areas of mutual interest, as well as reviewing the latest developments regarding the free trade agreement between them.
His Excellency the Secretary General emphasised the importance of the strategic partnership between the GCC countries and Japan, praising the continuous development and fruitful cooperation in various fields, especially in the areas of economy, energy, and technology, reflecting the strength of historical relations and shared interests between the two sides.
The officials also reviewed the latest developments on regional and international fronts and exchanged views on these matters.
His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi appreciated Japan’s stance in supporting a solution to the Palestinian issue based on international legitimacy resolutions in order to establish security and stability in the region. “This reflects Japan’s commitment to supporting just causes on the international stage,” His Excellency stressed.
